L’Empordà is known worldwide as the “country of Salvador Dalí” where its followers can visit the 3 emblematic places of the artist: the Dalí Museum in Figueres, the Summer House of Port Lligat in Cadaqués and the Castle of Púbol.

But, L’Empordà is much more than Dalí. It is an ancient region in which Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans left their mark, and it also preserves fantastic Romanesque churches and monasteries, Gothic and modernist buildings. With an impressive gastronomy that pairs perfectly with its splendid wines. All this, in a territory with spectacular nature, incredible landscapes and its enviable Mediterranean sun.

For our agency, traveling is a pleasure, filled with special moments and unique experiences that make, for a moment, our life better.

EMPORDÀ

Charming and welcoming land thanks to the open and friendly character of its inhabitants. The Empordà surprises you with its landscape, its colours, its calm atmosphere, its genuinely Mediterranean vegetation, its vineyards and its delicious seafood cuisine.

Where are we

The Empordà, north of the Costa Brava, is a region with a great cultural and landscape richness, heavily influenced by its geographical location as a border with France. Also situated in the north-eastern fringe of Catalonia and the Iberian Peninsula it has been characterized as a crossing point (people, merchandise, etc).

It is also an extraordinary region in terms of cultural heritage. It has to be highlighted that it is the only region of Catalonia that includes three natural areas catalogued as Natural Park in only a 100 square kilometres territory: els Aiguamolls de l’Empordà (marshland), el Cap de Creus, and the mountain range of l’Albera.

How to get there

Nature

The Empordà is an extraordinary territory in terms of natural heritage. It has to be highlighted that it is the only region of Catalonia that includes three natural areas catalogued as Natural Park in only a 100 square kilometres territory: els Aiguamolls de l’Empordà (marshland), el Cap de Creus, and the mountain range of l’Albera.

Beaches and coves

Empordà offers a great wide variety of beaches and coves: from endless beaches in the plain: in Sant Martí d’Empúries, Sant Pere Pescador and Castelló d’Empúries; to the hidden coves surrounded by rocks in the Cap de Creus Peninsula and the north coast (Roses, Cadaqués, El Port de la Selva, Llançà, Colera and Portbou) or the vivid and sandy beaches of Roses, Empuriabrava and l’Escala.

Culture and History

L’Empordà is the most important megalithic area of Catalonia. Among the Rodes range and the Albera range there are concentrated more tan a hundred menhirs.

The Romanesque art of this land has a strong personality. The density of religious architecture is very high.

In Empordà, Gothic art has found its hub in Castelló d’Empúries, with the church of Santa Maria and some other village architecture. On the other hand, the Renaissance has left us, above all, some interesting civil buildings.
