Itinerary

Day 1: Alt Empordà – Figueres   

Arrival at the hotel to check-in and enjoy the sun and the beaches of l'Empordà. At dusk we will go to the capital of Alt Empordà, Figueres, to visit the centre of world surrealism: Salvador Dalí Theatre-Museum. The visit represents a unique experience to observe, live and enjoy the work and thought of the genius. As Dalí himself explained: "It is evident that there are other worlds, that's for sure; but, as I have said many times, those other worlds are in ours, they reside on earth and precisely in the centre of the dome of Dalí Museum, where the whole new unsuspected and amazing world of surrealism is". After the visit we will have the opportunity to dine in any of the gastronomic proposals that the city offers us. Accommodation at the hotel (in August there is the possibility of visiting the Museum at night).

Day 2: Alt Empordà – Port Lligat house

Breakfast at the hotel and departure towards Port Lligat, which was the only stable house in Salvador Dalí’s life; the place where he lived and worked regularly until, in 1982, with the death of Gala, he established his residence in Púbol Castle. Salvador Dalí settled in 1930 in a small fisherman's hut in Port Lligat, attracted by the landscape, the light and the isolation of the place. From this initial construction, for 40 years he created his house. As he himself defined it, "Port Lligat is the place of realizations. It is the perfect place for my work. Everything conjures up for it to be so: time runs more slowly, and every hour has its right dimension. There is geological serenity: it is a unique planetary case". Once the visit is finished, we will go to Cap de Creus, a space of great beauty, endowed with a singular geological configuration, with structures and outcrops that form a unique ensemble in the world. The effect of the northern wind has caused whimsical forms of erosion to appear and has transformed the landscape in a very special way. We will eat in a restaurant next to the lighthouse and, in the afternoon, we will visit the village of Cadaqués, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Catalonia and which has managed to preserve its traditional air of cobbled streets with white and blue houses. We recommend going up to the church, where we will have one of the best views. Free dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3: Alt Empordà – Púbol Castle

Breakfast at the hotel and free day to enjoy the sun. We will go to Púbol for a guided tour of what was the last place where Gala, wife and muse of the great Empordà painter Salvador Dalí lived; a very significant place in Dalinian creation. Next, in Corça we will find a trull (oil mill) to enjoy an explanatory visit accessing the work area and seeing up close the entire process of preparing the oil, stone mill, being the only company that still produces with this system. Once the visit is over, we will go to the room where an explanatory video is played and we will do an oil tasting with coca bread made with firewood, olive groves and chocolate. This is a time to relax and extend for as long as you want, asking questions, enjoying the tasting. Free dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Día 4: Alt Empordà – Figueres

Breakfast at the hotel and free day to enjoy the sun, the beach or visit one of the wonderful towns of l'Empordà. In the evening we will discover the Figueres of Dalí, we will enjoy a guided tour walking through the centre of the city while we see the places where the great artist wanted to leave his mark. His memory persists in many corners of the city: his birth house, the church of Saint Peter where he was baptized, 10 Monturiol street where he installed his first painting workshop and invited famous people such as García Lorca or Luis Buñuel. Once the visit is finished, we have free time for shopping in the many shops that the city centre offers us, as well as being able to enjoy its rich gastronomic offer. Hotel accommodation.
